Aransas Wildlife Refuge

Rennell Associates is proud to have provided expert LEED Consulting and Commissioning for the newly constructed Visitor’s Center at the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, which officially received LEED Certification in 2024. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the commitment to sustainable design and environmental stewardship in the Gulf Coast region.

Our team worked closely with the designers and contractor to ensure that sustainability goals were not only met but exceeded. The Visitor’s Center serves as an essential hub for educational outreach, offering local communities and wildlife enthusiasts a chance to engage with the region’s unique natural habitat. This LEED Certification will help preserve the health of local wildlife and enhance the refuge’s ability to connect visitors to the natural world.

Through our efforts, the project was awarded a unique Pilot Credit SSpc55: Bird Strike Deterrent Glazing. This innovative approach uses a special glazing on all windows that ensures the safety of migratory bird species while maintaining the integrity and aesthetic of the Visitor’s Center.

We are immensely proud to have contributed to this project’s success and to see it come full circle, fostering both the flourishing of local wildlife and offering invaluable educational opportunities to the Gulf Coast community.
